About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor, the Physical Therapist evaluates and treats all patients referred for physical therapy in the Acute setting; prepares reports and communicates patient progress to MDs, nurses, case managers and other clinical staff; assists with patient discharge recommendations; contributes to the development of the department. Requirements

  • BS, MS or doctorate degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current license to practice physical therapy in the state of Louisiana.
  • Must maintain required hours of in-service per year to meet requirements for CEU's as stipulated by the Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy.
  • CPR certification as outlined in the hospitals policies and procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm in an emergency or crisis situations.
  • The necessary knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care for the patient based on assessment.
  • Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
  • Document evaluations , treatment goals, and plans.
  • Provides direction and leadership to staff and acts as a resource to promote physical therapy within the community.
  • Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff in order to achieve positive patient outcome.
