About The Position

The Physical Therapist position involves providing evaluations and treatment to patients, including examining medical histories and testing strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function. The therapist will plan and prepare treatment plans that describe the strategy, purpose, and anticipated outcomes. Responsibilities include administering manual exercises, applying physical agents such as ultrasound and electric stimulation, and evaluating the effects of treatment at various stages. The therapist will also teach patients to use assistive and adaptive devices, instruct them on at-home exercises, and maintain accurate records of evaluations and treatment notes. Additionally, the therapist will discharge patients when goals have been met and provide follow-up care or referrals. Maintaining a clean and organized treatment area and assisting in training new staff are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Current State License as a Physical Therapist
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience in the outpatient setting preferred
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods (written, verbal, non-verbal, or electronic)
  • Makes effective decisions that reflect clear and logical thinking
  • Demonstrates flexibility in examining new approaches in response to changing organizational objectives
  • Identifies and works proactively to solve problems
  • Prioritizes work activity based on department demands to complete assignments within designated timeframes with little to no supervision
  • Demonstrates behavior that protects the safety of self/others in the department and with equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluations including examining patients' medical histories and testing strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.
  • Plans and prepares treatment plans describing strategy, purpose, and anticipated outcome.
  • Administers manual exercises and applies physical agents (e.g., ultrasound, electric stimulation), massage, and traction.
  • Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit, often conferring with physicians and other practitioners.
  • Teaches patients to use assistive and adaptive devices and instructs them on at-home exercises.
  • Records evaluations, daily treatment notes, monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely.
  • Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets accurately and timely.
  • Discharges patients from services when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provides appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
  • Keeps treatment areas clean, organized, and unobstructed, and cleans equipment after treatment.
  • Assists in training and orientation of new staff.
  • Maintains adequate supply of inventory and organizes treatment area.
  • Treats all patients with respect and maintains confidentiality of patient information.
