About The Position

A licensed physical therapist employed by Erlanger Health System, is responsible for direct and indirect care in the rehabilitation of the patient. The Physical Therapy Resident will participate in residency curriculum activities including: - Structured mentorship - Didactic learning - Case presentations and journal reviews - Clinical competency assessments - Engage in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice projects, and performance feedback sessions. - Demonstrate professional behaviors consistent with APTA core values, including accountability, compassion, integrity, and excellence. All didactic and clinical work must be completed within the 12-month residency program in accordance with the Acute Care Residency curriculum. (See Acute care residency handbook for more details.) This position does not guarantee employment at the end of the 12-month residency program. This position is an exempt position and a 0.85 FTE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
  • Knowledge of general physical therapy principles and practical skills
  • Tennessee licensure
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
  • Clinicians expected to provide therapeutic intervention for the total joint population will complete 8 Hours of education specific to Total Ankle, Hip, and Knee Replacement. Completion of 4 of these hours as Erlanger Online - - Education upon hire (EOLs and other training will be assigned by Department Leadership and/or Educator).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations and develops individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, ensuring all interventions are age appropriate and clinically sound.
  • Actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and discharge planning while providing education to patients and their families to support understanding and engagement in the treatment process.
  • Supervises Physical Therapist Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, and Rehab Extenders in delivering therapeutic care and maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Participating in the weekend and holiday on call rotation
  • Upholding the American Physical Therapy Association's standards for treatment procedures and professional ethics
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development through continuing education.
  • Contributes to community education efforts
  • Serves as a clinical instructor for PT and PTA students
  • Supports Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives within the department and the Medical Center.
