Requirements

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of current practice or qualifications for traineeship or temporary license.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH).
  • 2 years of experience in an equivalent setting (preferred).
  • Demonstrates appropriate application of age-specific standards and guidelines in patient care.
  • General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition and progress.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial assessments and ongoing assessments of patients.
  • Provides skilled therapeutic interventions to patients, including outpatients, inpatients, pediatrics, and off-site locations.
  • Develops appropriate treatment plans with specific goals based on evaluations.
  • Provides direct therapy to patients daily according to their plan of care and current standards of practice for Physical Therapy.
  • Instructs patients and families in therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintains accurate and concise records on treatment provided and patient's progress in the electronic medical record.
  • Supervises the physical therapist assistant’s treatment interventions and professional growth.
  • Maintains departmental policies and procedures regarding safety, infection control, and time management.
