The Waltham based Per Diem Physical Therapist will play a crucial role in providing high-quality physical therapy services to patients at Boston Children's Hospital. This position involves performing complex diagnostic evaluations upon referral, utilizing both departmental and professional standards. The therapist will be responsible for reviewing patient medical histories and records, selecting, administering, and interpreting both standardized and non-standardized tests and measurements to assess patients' functional status across various domains, including cardiopulmonary, developmental, musculoskeletal, neurological, and sensorimotor functions. In addition to diagnostic evaluations, the Physical Therapist will integrate their knowledge into clinical decisions and recommendations, developing and implementing individualized treatment programs tailored to each patient's unique needs. Establishing treatment goals and administering appropriate physical therapy procedures and modalities will be a key responsibility, along with creating discharge plans and home treatment programs. The therapist will also provide education to patients and their families to ensure understanding and compliance with treatment protocols. The role includes recommending orthotics, adaptive/assistive equipment, and technology for patients with complex, rare, or multiple dysfunctions. The Physical Therapist will liaise with equipment designers and vendors to discuss equipment specifications and patient needs, ensuring that the best solutions are provided. Training patients, families, and caretakers in the use and operation of prescribed orthotics and equipment is essential, as is monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of these interventions and making necessary modifications. Documentation is a critical aspect of this role, as the therapist will be responsible for recording assessments, diagnoses, and treatments in patient medical records according to established standards. Additionally, preparing reports, correspondence, referrals, and other materials for schools, providers, payers, and other stakeholders will be required. The therapist will also assign standardized billing codes and corresponding charges necessary for reimbursement, ensuring compliance with financial protocols.
