About The Position

Tampa General Hospital is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in West Central Florida. Outpatient Rehabilitation Services are provided at multiple off campus locations and include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology services for patients across the life span (Pediatric and Adult). Patients may have a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic injuries, trauma, burns, chronic pain, birth injuries and other cardiac and neurology-related conditions. The goal of rehabilitation services is to increase the functional independence of our patients and improve their quality of life through state of the art, evidence-based practices. PT will be part of an Interdisciplinary team of PT, OT and SLP’s providing world class evidence-based care to patients. The primary caseload will be patients with Chronic Pain and orthopedic conditions, but PT may be expected to work with some patients from other diagnostic categories to meet the operational needs of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy.
  • Licensure by the State of Florida as a Physical Therapist.
  • Minimum 1 year experience required.
  • Must be Board certified in Orthopedic PT or commit to take certification exam within 2 years of hire.
  • Demonstrate competency in all clinical knowledge and skills specific to the patient population.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build and maintain relationships with patients, physicians, and other referral sources.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized treatment plans for each patient in collaboration with the patient and/or family member.
  • Collaborate within discipline and with team members of other disciplines to optimize patient care.
  • Manage patient caseload and documentation according to department guidelines.
  • Stay current with evidence-based practice through professional development activities as appropriate to caseload.
  • Participate actively in team meetings.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
