About The Position

The NICU Physical Therapist at Cook Children's Medical Center is responsible for evaluating and providing direct patient care to infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with various disorders. This role emphasizes developmental care, patient and caregiver education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for vulnerable patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous NICU experience preferred.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • CPR - BLS certification within 30 days of employment required.
  • State license for Physical Therapy or licensure eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and provide direct patient care for infants in the NICU with various disorders.
  • Oversee developmental care of all babies in the NICU.
  • Provide consultation and programming including patient and caregiver education.
  • Conduct staff and family education/training.
  • Make referrals and consultations to outside agencies as needed.
  • Document patient care and participate in weekly NICU rounds.
  • Facilitate and plan the Developmental Care Committee.
  • Input all charges into the computer system.
