About The Position

This is a contingent/PRN opportunity for a physical therapist who evaluates pediatric and select adult patients for physical therapy due to injury or disease and administers treatment. The role involves fabricating or recommending adaptive equipment and splints, documenting evaluation results or patient progress, and providing patient and family education. The position requires participation in continuing education programs and departmental in-service training to enhance professional development, including participation in evidence-based practice (EBP).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, required.
  • State of Ohio licensure in physical therapy, required.
  • CPR certification no later than 60 days post hire or post expiration, required.
  • One year of physical therapy work experience in a pediatric setting or clinical affiliation in area of pediatrics, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Physical Therapy educational programs for hospital staff, students, and community.
  • Delegates to students from accredited programs, licensed physical therapist assistants, and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided.
  • Develops and administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits.
  • Utilizes developmental activities, modalities, and other treatment techniques to meet each patient’s specific needs.
  • Documents as appropriate and in compliance with requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations.
  • Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation.
  • Educates on treatment goals and therapy plans, instructs on therapeutic activities to follow at home, and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding.
  • Fabricates, recommends, or provides adaptive equipment, splints, or casts to maintain functional body joint positions.
  • Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations.
  • Identifies patient’s strengths and deficits, establishes goals, and develops an individualized treatment plan.
