Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited PT program.
  • Virginia State Therapy License, Physical Therapist Trainee in Virginia, or Compact Privilege.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy services consistent with licensure to clients including evaluation of patient, establishing plan of care, implementing treatment, directing, and educating patient and/or caregiver and documentation of the above.
  • Supervise therapy assistants, technicians, students, and volunteers as applicable.
  • Communicate with other health care providers regarding client care and treatment plans.
  • Provide training and education for hospital staff as requested.
  • Complete patient documentation in a timely manner to meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Attend continuing education programs and present findings to appropriate staff as applicable.
  • Review and complete all insurance authorization requirements for patients in a timely manner.
  • Assist with performance improvement for rehab department and hospital.
  • Understand use and precautions of any treatments and equipment used.
  • Positively contribute to the departmental financial performance/productivity.
  • Deliver care that is consistent with the team member's discipline in accordance with the specific therapy practice act, guidelines, and code of ethics.
  • Complete patient evaluations and treatments independently while maintaining patient safety.
  • Independently establish/implement treatment goals and plans based on patient input and evaluation and assessment results.
  • Reassess outcomes and modify goals and plans to meet changing needs of the patient.
  • Schedule patient activities according to patient individual needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members and coworkers.
  • Function as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Organize individual patient caseload in collaboration with team workload demands.
  • Perform daily administrative/office activities to ensure efficient flow of care within team.
  • Demonstrate technical competencies and job knowledge as it pertains to rehabilitative care.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to new rehabilitation staff in work area as requested.
