About The Position

Under general supervision and using clinical expertise, the Physical Therapist II evaluates the physical therapy needs of inpatients and outpatients in a hospital or California Children's Services (CCS) setting. This role involves developing, implementing, and documenting treatment plans and goals tailored to meet patient needs. The Physical Therapist II also acts as a clinical resource specialist to other therapists, providing guidance and support in clinical practices. The established list of candidates will be utilized to fill other vacancies as they arise, and it will also be used for temporary (extra help) opportunities. Interested candidates are encouraged to indicate their interest in such opportunities during the application process. The position requires performing complex patient care tasks under minimal supervision, utilizing advanced skills in clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and treatment interventions. Responsibilities include examining, evaluating, and testing individuals with mechanical, physiological, and developmental impairments, as well as functional limitations and disabilities. The therapist will determine diagnoses of physical impairments or movement-related functional limitations, develop prognoses, and create plans for therapeutic intervention, including the frequency and duration of treatment. In addition to direct patient care, the Physical Therapist II will integrate examination, evaluation, movement-related diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention to maximize patient outcomes, modifying treatment as necessary. The role also involves evaluating, recommending, and applying assistive devices and equipment, providing education and training to patients and their families, and performing indirect patient care duties such as coordinating care and documenting patient management. The therapist will supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, students, and volunteers, providing clinical guidance and conducting clinical competencies. Administrative responsibilities include prioritizing and scheduling patient treatments, assisting in daily operations, and contributing to the development of service policies and procedures. The Physical Therapist II is expected to engage in professional development activities, participate in research, and may be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker as required.
