Under general supervision, delivers physical therapy (PT) services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination and development of treatment plans in accordance with the Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act. Will demonstrate competency in treating multiple patient populations within the acute care setting.

  • Evaluate patient needs through review of medical history, diagnosis, and physician's prescription.
  • Observe and interview patient/caregiver to gather necessary information.
  • Apply appropriate assessment procedures to determine short and long-term goals with patient/caregiver input.
  • Establish a plan of care based upon goals and evaluation results.
  • Identify barriers to patient care.
  • Implement appropriate therapeutic interventions and progress treatment plans.
  • Teach patients/caregivers activities to reinforce therapeutic interventions.
  • Document evaluations/re-evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Utilize assistance from Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Techs, and volunteers as appropriate.
  • Communicate with multidisciplinary team members regarding evaluation findings and patient progress.
  • Participate in discharge planning with interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide a positive experience for assigned medical residents and volunteers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with schedule to accommodate Same Day Evaluations and follow-up treatments.
  • Actively seek advice and incorporate feedback for performance improvement.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and adhere to performance improvement requirements.
  • BS, Masters, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
  • Current Maryland license as a Physical Therapist.
  • Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).
  • At least 1 year of experience, with acute care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy theories, practices, and standards.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to evaluate patient function, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress.
  • Ability to set priorities and schedule patients efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn EMR navigation.
  • Experience in treating high-risk patient populations.
  • Proficiency in using standardized tests to support documentation.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
