About The Position

Atlantic Health is searching for a Per Diem Physical Therapist that has experience in treating patients with neurologic diagnoses. The Physical Therapist in this department provides skilled physical therapy services to patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs to restore function, improve mobility, and relieve pain. The therapist works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care. Patient Evaluation & Treatment: Conduct comprehensive physical therapy assessments. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Reassess and modify interventions based on patient progress. Documentation & Compliance: Complete evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in a timely manner. Ensure documentation meets regulatory and hospital standards. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Consult with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in care planning and discharge coordination. Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, mobility strategies, and safety. Provide literature and resources tailored to patient needs. Operational Support: Assist supervisors with clinical and operational issues. Utilize physical therapist assistants (PTAs) and support staff effectively. Fast-paced acute care hospital units (ICU, post-surgical, medical/surgical floors). Requires physical stamina and ability to assist with patient mobility and rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.
  • Current New Jersey Physical Therapist license is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in acute or subacute care preferred (new graduates may be considered).
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills are especially important for this role
