About The Position

AccessPoint RI is seeking a Physical Therapist Consultant to support our Residential Program and GAP Program, serving adults and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role is ideal for an experienced PT who enjoys consultative, program-level work and values flexibility, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mission-driven impact. Role Overview The Physical Therapist Consultant provides clinical expertise, guidance, and program support across residential settings and the GAP program. This is a non-benefited, part-time consulting role with a flexible schedule based on program needs.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Rhode Island
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to work independently in a consultative role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
  • Familiarity with residential settings and/or transition-to-adulthood programming is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide PT consultation to Residential and GAP program teams
  • Support mobility, positioning, adaptive equipment, and functional independence needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (OT, Speech, Nursing, etc.)
  • Review and provide input on individualized supports, plans, and environmental adaptations
  • Offer training, recommendations, and best practices to staff as appropriate
  • Participate in team meetings as needed
  • Support program development and continuous improvement initiatives
