About The Position

The position involves evaluating patients, planning treatment programs, and providing physical therapy interventions. The physical therapist will also delegate and supervise activities performed by others in the department. The role requires effective communication with patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans and progress, as well as documentation of medical records. The therapist will work closely with support staff to ensure efficient non-clinical services and provide inpatient care at Sparrow Carson Hospital based on referrals.

Requirements

• Current/non-restricted State of Michigan Physical Therapist License.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.

• Preferred - PT experience.
• Preferred - 1 year experience.
• Preferred - Manual therapy skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patients based on the written prescription of the referring medical professionals.
• Establish reasonable goals with patients and/or their families.
• Communicate treatment plans, goals, and progress to patients and caregivers.
• Perform treatment according to the established plan using available modalities, equipment, and techniques.
• Document medical records according to established criteria.
• Re-evaluate patients and modify treatment programs and goals as needed.
• Make recommendations for discharge planning.
• Delegate tasks to Physical Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Rehab Aides, and students/interns.
• Supervise interventions provided by PTA's, ATC's, Rehab Aides, and students/interns.
• Cooperate with support staff and other health system departments to maximize efficiency.
