About The Position

The Physical Therapist at the Brain Wellness Program plays a vital role in guiding patients on their recovery journey following traumatic brain injury and other neurological and orthopedic conditions. Physical Therapist conducts comprehensive evaluations with a strong awareness of differential diagnoses, patient history, precautions, and individual needs related to age and functional level and awareness of diagnosis impact. From these assessments, the therapist designs and implements treatment plans tailored to maximize functional outcomes and quality of life. In this role, the therapist monitors patient progress closely, adapts treatment strategies as needed, and actively educates patients on the purpose, expectations, and effects of therapy. A strong emphasis is placed on patient engagement through motivational interviewing and personalized education to foster self-efficacy and long-term health. As an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, the Physical Therapist collaborates and engages in co-treatments with physicians, speech-language pathologists, art and music therapists, psychologists, and other providers to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care. The therapist will also have opportunities to lead group and education sessions, as well as contribute to community education initiatives that promote awareness and wellness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree. Specific course work: Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Knowledge of Physical Therapy theory, procedures, practices and equipment.
  • Good communication skills. Proactive, positive approach to problem solving.
  • Thorough knowledge of possible hazards/necessary precautions/remedial measures in the treatment and care of patients.
  • Ability to assess and implement treatment programs for simple and complex therapy diagnoses.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Current Florida Physical Therapy license.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • Less than one year clinical experience in area of job opening (e.g. Acute, outpatient, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospital-based rehabilitation services.
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Completing evaluations, progress notes, re-evaluations, and discharge documentation in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Maintaining accurate medical and departmental records with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrating sound clinical judgment regarding safety, indications/contraindications, and patient privacy.
  • Providing flexible support within the department and program initiatives.
  • Maintenance, management, and care on rehabilitation equipment.
