The Physical Therapist Assistant performs components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist; assists physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.
Requirements
- Associates Other Physical Therapist Assistants and Graduates eligible for licensure will be considered, upon hire
- Physical Therapy Assistant: TX, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
Responsibilities
- Performs components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist
- assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease
- Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care
- Instructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‐ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activities
- Observes patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist
- may communicate updates to physicians
- Fit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs
- May perform clerical duties
- Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel
- Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner
- Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education
