The Physical Therapist Assistant performs components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist; assists physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.

Requirements

  • Associates Other Physical Therapist Assistants and Graduates eligible for licensure will be considered, upon hire
  • Physical Therapy Assistant: TX, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days

Responsibilities

  • Performs components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist
  • assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease
  • Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care
  • Instructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‐ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activities
  • Observes patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist
  • may communicate updates to physicians
  • Fit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs
  • May perform clerical duties
  • Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner
  • Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education
