Requirements

  • Graduated from a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by CAPTE
  • Licensed/registered to practice as a PTA in the state of practice
  • One (1) year of experience as a PTA after obtaining licensure
  • Current CPR certification (BLS required)
  • Insured automobile as per LORIAN requirements
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Ability to work with adults (18 years and older)
  • Self-directed and able to work with little direct supervision
  • Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligations
  • Verbal communication skills in the client's language or ability to use translation services provided by LORIAN

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment as ordered by the attending physician under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
  • Collaborate with the Physical Therapist before making any changes in treatment
  • Educate and instruct patients and families in home programs for balance and gait training
  • Assist patients with manual exercises and daily living activities
  • Observe, record, and report patient information
  • Evaluate home environments and make appropriate recommendations
  • Participate in in-service education programs and monthly clinical meetings
  • Maintain accurate and relevant clinical notes
  • Adhere to established Lorian policies and procedures
  • Ensure patient record confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and state laws
