About The Position

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will help to ensure that REHAB patients and their families receive caring and dedicated service at REHAB. You will provide support for the Therapy Department and assist with a variety of services with a commitment to delivering high-quality, comprehensive and innovative inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. These services include carrying out treatment plans which have been established specifically for the patient by a PT who will delegate and provide appropriate supervision for the PTA as required by the education and training level of the assistant.

Requirements

  • Current State of Hawaii PTA licensure
  • Current BLS certification
  • Completion of competencies and other job-related and REHAB requirements.
  • Graduate from a Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA); or if educated outside the United States or trained in the United States military, graduated from an education program determined to be substantially equivalent to Physical Therapist Assistant entry level education in the United States by a credentials evaluation organization approved by the American Physical Therapy Association; and
  • Passed a national examination for Physical Therapist Assistants.
  • On or before December 31, 2009, (1) Graduated from a 2-year college-level program approved by CAPTE.
  • On or before December 31, 1997, was licensed or qualified as a Physical Therapist Assistant and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service.
  • Ability to safely and effectively manage patients' mobility.
  • Ability to clearly communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to safely provide care to patients.

  • Work experience in a healthcare setting in which the applicant has provided direct patient care in a rehabilitation setting.
