About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant works under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. This role involves implementing selected components of patient interventions (treatment), obtaining data related to the interventions provided, and making modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient as directed by the physical therapist or to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
  • Current state Board of Physical Therapist Assistant licensure.
  • BLS certification.

  • One year of physical therapist assistant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implements the individualized plan of care as established by the physical therapist.
  • Adjusts treatment interventions in response to patient feedback, objective data and observation within the established plan of care.
  • Identifies need for changes in plan of care and communicates with supervising physical therapist.
  • Assists the physical therapist with managing the established discharge plan throughout treatment.
  • Supervises and delegates to ancillary staff and students consistent with state laws and department policy.
  • Completes legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy and procedure and in accordance with accreditation requirements and insurance regulations.
  • Communicates with the patient, family, caregivers, significant others, and members of the health care team to promote maximum benefit of care utilizing AIDET.
