About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services under the plan of care established by a licensed Physical Therapist. This role involves completing documentation and submitting charges to support treatment while complying with laws and regulations of appropriate state and federal agencies and Joint Commission guidelines. The position is full-time and located in Sumter, South Carolina.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE accredited school
  • BLS certification
  • Licensed by SC Board of Physical Therapy Examiners

Nice To Haves

  • Lymphedema certification if employed at the Center for Integrative Oncology & Survivorship

Responsibilities

  • Implements treatment plan
  • Follows plan of care established by supervising physical therapist
  • Assesses patient response to treatment and modifies treatment as needed
  • Demonstrates proficiency and competency in clinical care in primary work area
  • Reports changes in patient status to team members as appropriate
  • Effectively communicates patient status with clinical staff
  • Documents all aspects of treatment in compliance with chart review audit components
  • Participates in team meetings and provides the necessary patient information
  • Actively participates in patient/family education regarding progress and home programs as needed
  • Utilizes appropriate abbreviations and medical terminology
  • Participates in discharge planning of patients including provision of documentation supporting any additional discharge needs
  • Attends staff meetings, team meetings, and mandatory in-services as scheduled
  • Completes assignments in a timely and thorough manner
  • Assists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies
  • Completes charge/productivity documentation and enters information and charges in an accurate and timely manner
  • Demonstrates willingness to assist and is respectful of the rights of other team members
  • Complies with department policies and procedures
  • Consistently demonstrates behaviors that support the purpose statement of the department and Prisma Health
  • Assumes any additional team/department responsibilities as assigned by department leadership
  • Provides oversight to therapy aides, students and volunteers
  • Functions as mentor to new staff and supervises new graduates
  • Participates in program development as requested by supervisor
  • Meets the team/department productivity standards
  • Complies with the established standards of efficient scheduling to maintain appropriate levels of productivity
  • Achieves annual goals
  • Actively supports corporate leadership initiatives
  • Conscientiously seeks consultation or supervision
  • Performs other duties as assigned
