A Day in the Life of a Physical Therapist Assistant As a PTA in home health care, you play a vital role in helping patients improve mobility, strength, and independence.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited physical therapy assistant program
  • Current Oklahoma PTA license in good standing
  • At least 1 year of physical therapy experience
  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job

Responsibilities

  • Providing treatments planned, delegated, and supervised by the evaluating Physical Therapist
  • Assisting with therapeutic exercises and functional mobility training
  • Teaching patients and caregivers how to safely perform exercises and activities
  • Coordinating care with other home health team members to ensure well‑rounded treatment
  • Maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with CMS requirements, including functional reassessments
  • Practicing infection control and universal precautions
  • Reporting suspected abuse according to state and federal guidelines
  • Assisting with new‑hire orientation and participating in training activities when needed
