Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate’s degree required).
Current Virginia state licensure or eligibility as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare, preferably home health or rehabilitation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in assisting with therapeutic exercises and functional training.
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Assist the supervising Physical Therapist with initial and ongoing patient assessments.
Support the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
Carry out therapeutic interventions and exercises to improve strength, mobility, and independence.
Provide hands-on assistance with gait training, transfers, and daily living activities.
Educate patients and caregivers on safe techniques and home exercise programs.
Document care accurately and report changes in patient condition.
Collaborate with the Physical Therapist and care team to ensure continuity of care.
