About The Position

Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) – PRN Oakwood Gardens Care Center Location: Fresno, CA Pay Rate: Starting at $42.00 per hour Status: PRN / Per Diem Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) General Purpose The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) assists the Physical Therapist with patient-related activities and provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders and established treatment plans. This role supports high-quality rehabilitation services focused on improving residents’ functional outcomes and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Proficient in electronic documentation systems (Casamba and PointClickCare preferred)
  • Current, active Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license in the state
  • Maintain license in good standing and meet all continuing education requirements
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy manuals
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to apply basic math concepts
  • Ability to solve practical problems and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling
  • Visual abilities including close, distance, peripheral, color, and depth perception

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment to patients as directed by the Physical Therapist
  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes in accordance with PT Board standards
  • Treat patients per the physician-approved plan of care
  • Participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing the therapy department
  • Clean and maintain treatment areas and equipment
  • Communicate patient progress, problems, and plans with the supervising therapist and interdisciplinary team
  • Assist nursing staff with training of Restorative Aides as needed
  • Participate in facility in-service training programs
  • Document treatment changes per facility policy and procedures
  • Instruct patients, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge planning
  • Report equipment issues to ensure safe and proper operation
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and colleagues
