About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant will work in an acute care and inpatient rehabilitation setting at CGCH - Carilion Giles Community Hospital. This role involves performing selected procedures under the direction of a licensed physical therapist who has evaluated the patient and developed a plan of care. The assistant will provide services in compliance with regulations governing the practice of physical therapy, taking into consideration the patient's chronological and developmental ages during treatment. Responsibilities include coordinating patient care and clinical activities through communication with patients, families, therapists, and other healthcare team members, as well as documenting in the patient's medical record and completing other patient care-related forms. The assistant will supervise and collaborate with support staff, volunteers, and students to ensure efficient clinical activity and quality patient care. Participation in department and professional activities, including inservices, performance improvement, program development, and staff meetings, is also expected.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and teamwork skills required.
• CPR certified within six months of employment.

• Experience in site-specific level of care preferred but not required.
