About The Position

Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is seeking a full-time faculty member to provide high-quality, learner-centered instruction in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. This role supports student success while contributing to the College’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Master’s or higher degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Currently licensed as a Physical Therapist in any state and in compliance with the state practice act of Kansas.
  • Five (5) years full-time clinical practice (or equivalent) as a Physical Therapist.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience, either academic or clinical.
  • Clinical experience supervising PTA and/or knowledge of the role of the PTA.
  • Knowledge of current theory, practice, and trends in physical therapy and assigned teaching areas.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, adult learning theory, and instructional methodologies.
  • Ability to deliver effective instruction and evaluate student learning in a variety of formats, including Blended/Hyflex.
  • Ability to design and implement student-centered learning experiences for diverse populations.
  • Ability to assess student performance and provide constructive, timely feedback.
  • Ability to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and higher-order learning.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in physical therapy practice.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and basic computer applications.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, student-centered environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Experience teaching in a PTA program.
  • Experience teaching in a Blended or Hyflex learning environment.
  • Experience as a clinic manager or site coordinator of clinical education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain course syllabi that include learning outcomes, competencies, instructional materials, grading/assessment methods, and course schedules.
  • Plan and deliver learner-centered instruction that supports student success in a Blended/Hyflex environment.
  • Design and implement learning activities and assessments aligned with course and program outcomes.
  • Integrate instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and assess student performance using a variety of assessment techniques.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback, including current course grades.
  • Support program, division, and institutional assessment plans.
  • Advise and mentor students in collaboration with the PTA Program Coordinator.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Participate in accreditation activities for the PTA program, including compliance with Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to student learning and outcomes.
  • Stay current in the field through professional development and/or clinical practice.
  • Attend and actively participate in division and department meetings, committees, in-services, and college events.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the program and institution through timely submission of grades, attendance, and required reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
