About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Onondaga Community College invites applications for the adjunct clinical instructor position. Responsibilities include instruction and evaluation for lecture and lab courses within the Physical Therapy Assistant program as well as accompanying students during clinical rotation to local healthcare organizations:

Requirements

Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant
Active, unrestricted Physical Therapy License/Registration in New York State
Minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy
Candidates must be able to comply with current Department of Health regulations for vaccinations/immunizations for acute and long-term care facilities

Nice To Haves

Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred
Experience as a Clinical Instructor in physical therapy
APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor
Didactic teaching experience at the college level in an accredited physical therapist assistant program
Evidence of contemporary expertise in one or more of the following physical therapy topics: Pediatrics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Geriatrics, Modalities
Evidence of computer-based skills to complement and enhance teaching, assessment, and accreditation processes.
Excellent communication skills and ability to function as an effective team member within a collaborative work environment.
Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills
Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and another language.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present lectures.
Meet with students as needed to answer questions.
Respond to student queries (e.g., email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner.
Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams.
Compute grades and submit them on time.
Clinical assignments for fall 2024 are on Tuesdays or Thursdays during the day
