About The Position

The Physical Therapist is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record. The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient clinics, provides instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members. Therapists may rotate through our various clinical service areas.

Requirements

  • Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
  • Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility.
  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver physical therapy care to assigned patient population.
  • Record care in the hospital medical record.
  • Act as a consultant to various patient clinics.
  • Provide instruction to PT support staff, students, and personnel of other disciplines.
  • Evaluate patients and implement plans of care.
  • Order equipment as needed.
  • Represent the department at rounds and discharge conferences.
  • Schedule and charge patients.
