About The Position

The Physical Therapist at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago will play a crucial role in assisting patients to achieve their maximum physical performance while adapting to disabilities. This position involves treating disabled patients through various standard physical therapy interventions, including heat, cold, electricity, traction, ultrasound, and exercise. The therapist will evaluate the motor and neurological capabilities of patients and adapt their physical therapy programs accordingly to ensure optimal recovery and rehabilitation outcomes. In this role, the Physical Therapist will consistently demonstrate support for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's Vision, Mission, and Core Values. The Physical Therapist will evaluate each patient's physical and functional status, including muscular strength, motor functions, reflexes, ambulation skills, and the ability to perform activities of daily living. They will observe and interview patients, review medical histories, and administer various tests to determine the suitability for treatment. The therapist will establish therapy goals, formulate treatment plans, and discuss these plans with patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed and involved in the rehabilitation process. Additionally, the therapist will participate in patient discharge planning and may contribute to departmental education programs by teaching and supervising students. Research participation may also be required as part of the role.
