About The Position

This position is a technical leader responsible for the design, development, implementation, integration, maintenance, governance, and continuous improvement of all physical security technologies and low voltage security solutions for QuikTrip. It ensures systems and platforms meet QuikTrip’s needs to protect people and property by integrating interconnected hardware and software components across multiple layers of security. This position focuses on prioritization and ongoing enhancement of processes, tools, and technologies, addressing current implementations while driving R&D efforts to modernize platforms and deliver business value. It will participate in multiple projects throughout all lifecycle phases, following established standards and procedures, and will ensure that monitoring, uptime, security, and governance of physical security systems remain a top priority. This position provides Tier 3 technical support for enterprise physical security systems, requires constant problem-solving, and is heavily reliant on collaboration across diverse enterprise teams and stakeholders. It serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all physical security systems and platforms used at QuikTrip.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, CIS, CS, Computer Engineering or other related technical field, or equivalent QT experience.
  • 8+ years’ progressive experience with low voltage design or engineering experience in large, complex IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security technologies, including intrusion detection, theft and loitering deterrent systems, NVR video storage systems, and CCTV systems.
  • Expertise in server, storage and network configuration/administration for physical security platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and core services, as well as VMWare Infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of network topologies, protocols, and storage technologies (SAN/NAS).
  • Experience with scripting language such as PowerShell for automation.
  • Expert level experience troubleshooting hardware/software related problems.
  • Knowledge of data backup, disaster recovery practices, and security principles.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment and lead initiatives while working without direct supervision.
  • Must have strong diagnostic/troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to plan and goal-set at high and detailed levels and to implement technical strategy and design solutions to meet that strategy.
  • Must be able to solve problems independently and quickly and then communicate to stakeholders.
  • Needs to have the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Must be able to take initiative and effectively lead other team members and employees to achieve desired outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related technical field. Certification in one or many Information Technology disciplines, ITIL Certification or Project Management Certification.
  • 8+ Years of engineering experience in large, complex IT environments.
  • 8+ Years of leading teams in the design and implementation of advanced physical security systems and applications.
  • Advanced experience with designing automated systems using scripting languages such as PowerShell, and/or JavaScript, and/or Python.
  • Advanced experience configuring and supporting a wide variety of operating systems including MS and Linux.
  • Advanced experience with application packaging deployment and virtualization.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) across multiple QuikTrip physical security-related systems
  • Data analytics skills.
  • Certifications in Avigilon, Kantech, Manitou, and DMP Platforms.
  • Experience with MS SharePoint, Citrix solutions including NetScaler & VDI, advanced scripting (including PERL, BASH, Python, and PowerShell), configuration management tools and various operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, lead, plan, design, and implement physical security technologies at a high-quality level in waterfall or agile projects.
  • Lead efforts to maximize automation for provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring of solutions designed to minimize impact on operations teams.
  • Provide senior-level engineering, implementation, administration, support, documentation, and design for physical security enterprise systems.
  • Ensure designs meet industry best practices, standards, and any security and compliance requirements at QuikTrip.
  • Lead collaboration with third parties to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Effectively document support methods and tasks for transition to operations teams.
  • Analyze current infrastructure utilization and assist in the planning for future growth and upgrade needs based on capacity planning information.
  • With minimal supervision, work with project teams to determine needs and make technical recommendations to ensure correct server and storage options are designed and installed.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex problems to meet business needs.
  • Liaison between vendors, and customers to ensure timely resolution of issues and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline tasks, reduce risk, and improve long term reliability.
  • Maintain knowledge of common support issues for physical security systems technology and work with operations teams to maximize the use of automation to reduce support costs.
  • Provide 24x7 emergency on-call support for physical security systems on a rotating basis with the other members of the team.
  • Provide effective leadership and intentional mentoring to IT staff to ensure task and responsibilities for the team are completed in a timely manner.
  • Conceive, define, develop, and deploy tools/processes which automate QT’s physical security technology to produce higher business value and employee/customer safety.
  • Maintain technical competence and relevance on existing and emerging physical security systems and automation technologies.
  • Drive the use of automation processes for provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring hardware and software solutions designed for minimal impact to Store and IT teams.
  • Work with technology and business partners on R&D efforts to modernize physical security.
  • Lead in the development of policies, standards, guidelines, and reference architectures to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company.
  • Seek input from team members and supervisors on areas to improve own skill set.
  • Apply feedback received into day-to-day work and strive to improve personal performance.
  • Train team members and SOC personnel to improve technical skills and system knowledge.
  • Actively utilize training outlets as necessary to improve technical skills including self-study, in-house classes, seminars, and/or online training.
  • Maintain technical competence and relevance on existing and emerging physical security and automation technologies by attending ongoing training workshops, reviewing professional publications, reviewing industry best practices/procedures, and reviewing modern technologies to determine appropriate fit within the organization.
  • Ensure that appropriate technology is implemented in the appropriate manner.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and provide input into current and future reference architectures.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required by QuikTrip policy or as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored, or assessed by any tools or during any troubleshooting procedures.
  • Listen to others and accept input from team members.
  • Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts both in verbal and written formats.
  • Accurately prepare written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, and professional.
  • Timely communicate status updates with the PTO, Project Manager, or Project Technical Lead, the project team, and/or key customers and supervisor regarding specific assignments and overall scheduling/coordination needs.
  • Accurately record project and trouble call work assignment updates within timeframes determined by departmental standards or individual supervisors.
