About The Position

This vacancy is for a Physical Security Specialist, GS-0080-13, located in Alameda, CA. The position is responsible for assisting the USCG Physical Security Program Manager with the development of physical and security policy and implementation of program initiatives. The specialist will review and evaluate existing policy and assist with writing, planning, organizing, establishing, publishing, disseminating, and implementing new physical security policy on behalf of the USCG Physical Security Program.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • This position requires a Top-Secret clearance.
  • This is not a Bargaining Unit position.
  • Testing designated Position (TDP) for the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Program.
  • Time in Grade requirement must be met by the closing date of the vacancy.
  • A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug testing result.

  • Experience analyzing Physical Security Programs.
  • Experience making recommendations to senior agency management officials on Physical Security matters.
  • Experience evaluating the effectiveness of established policies and procedures.
  • Experience developing agency-wide recommendations on modifications and corrections of established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a physical security technical expert in developing new or proposed security policies designed to protect Coast Guard assets and personnel.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing physical security practices, recommending the type of control requirements, procedures, and facilities needed.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate briefings and information exchange opportunities.
  • Perform all aspects of risk assessments in lieu of the required SAVs when required.
  • Prepare reports of vulnerability assessment findings and recommendations.
  • Resolve major conflicts in policy and program objectives during compliance visits and prepare a report of the findings and recommendations.
