This position is located with the Sustainable Agricultural Water Systems Research Unit in Davis, CA. The role involves participating in various phases of the research process by performing complex technical duties, adapting or developing new techniques, and maintaining specialized equipment used for testing and evaluation procedures.

  • Actively participates in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of complex technical duties.
  • Adapts, modifies or develops new techniques and/or procedures to satisfy the needs of the research project.
  • Uses a variety of specialized equipment to perform a full range of techniques.
  • Maintains, calibrates and modifies complex/specialized equipment and automated systems used for test and evaluation procedures.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Direct Deposit required for federal payments.
  • Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees applying for a promotion must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level.
  • Specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level or its non-Federal equivalent, including experience in meteorological, soil, or environmental research.
