Summary Statement This class is primarily involved in operating the movable bridges and will work on the Woodland Ferry as a deck hand as needed. This class will also be involved in completing basic repairs in multiple trade fields and performing routine preventative maintenance and repair work within various structures and transportation related infrastructure including but not limited to roadways, bridges, guardrail and movable bridges. This position must be available to work overtime as needed, and during storm events and other emergency events on short notice and in some cases no advance notice. Assists mechanics and skilled trades workers in basic and routine repair and maintenance functions such as plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and other trades operations. Participates in inspection as assigned to spot preventative maintenance problems. Repairs roof leaks, pumps water, sweeps, patches pot holes, helps inspect vehicles and equipment as needed. Assists in snow/ice removal, grass cutting. May pick up and transport supplies and materials. May perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance.
