About The Position

Dwight School, an innovative preschool-grade 12 coeducational school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is seeking an experienced and energetic Physical & Health Education teacher for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical & Health Education or a related field required
  • At least two (2) years of relevant, full-time Physical & Health Education teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Have some experience or knowledge of IB PYP and MYP; or willing to learn about the IB curriculum
  • Experience in team sports
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of team dynamic, kinesiology, and nutrition
  • Past success teaching students with varying skill levels and learning styles
  • The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and eager to contribute positively to the Dwight community, demonstrating willingness to engage with, and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement lesson or unit structures that are clear, logical, and transparent
  • Create a classroom environment that is safe, orderly, and engaging
  • Promote physical fitness and teach students the value of proper health and eating habits
  • Demonstrate the attributes of good health and fitness
  • Inspire students to lead healthy, active lives
  • Collaborate with teachers from other subject areas to plan and implement interdisciplinary study
  • Guide and support students as they make connections to Dwight’s applied learning philosophy
  • Display a commitment to diversity and create a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in approach to teaching and learning, as they are recognized and valued by Dwight
