Job SummarySaint Joseph School is a parochial school of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, faithful to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church, dedicated to serving children and families by providing a Christ-centered learning environment where children grow in faith, truth, and love. We serve over 1,000 students in grades PK–8 in Cottleville, Missouri. We are seeking a dedicated, faith-filled, full-time Physical Education (PE) Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Qualified candidates should hold a degree in Elementary Education (or related field) and possess or be willing to obtain appropriate certification. Compensation is based on degree and years of experience according to the school salary scale.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field
  • Valid state teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification (Physical Education certification preferred)
  • Experience teaching physical education at the elementary level preferred
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate physical education practices and student safety procedures
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education lessons aligned with school and diocesan standards
  • Promote physical fitness, coordination, motor skill development, and lifelong wellness habits
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured environment that encourages participation, respect, and confidence
  • Teach and model sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, and self-discipline grounded in Catholic values
  • Ensure student safety through effective supervision, clear procedures, and proper use of equipment
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles
  • Assess and document student progress and participation
  • Maintain gymnasium spaces and equipment in a safe, clean, and organized condition
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and expectations
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialty staff, and administration to support the whole child
  • Assist in planning and supporting school-wide events such as field days and wellness initiatives
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school liturgies
  • Integrate faith into daily interactions and serve as a positive role model of Christian behavior
  • Uphold all school policies, Archdiocesan guidelines, and accreditation standards
