Join a team of master teachers and earn a $140,000 salary at The Equity Project (TEP) Charter School, featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and on 60 Minutes for its revolutionary teacher salaries and its outstanding results. TEP aims to achieve educational equity for students from traditionally underserved communities by utilizing world-class teachers, while re-imagining the teaching profession as a place in which teachers prioritize their own growth-as pedagogical experts, intellectual seekers, and community leaders. Applicants will be eligible for Early Childhood Physical Education Teacher roles (Kindergarten, 1st Grade) and Elementary School Physical Education Teacher roles (2nd Grade to 4th Grade). TEP is deeply committed to Physical Education, evidenced by the fact that TEP students receive one full period of Physical Education every single day, across every single grade. As one of the three pillars of our program (Academics, Arts, and Athletics), TEP treats Physical Education as a full-fledged academic subject, and not as an elective meant to supplement. You will collaborate with other grade-level teachers to integrate physical education into the broader educational experience. In this role, you will be a grade-level physical education teacher, leading daily 45-minute PE periods to each of the K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade classes. You will also supervise unstructured play as well as structured physical activities during recess, ensuring that students are safe but active on the road to developing the habits that will lead to life-long health. Early Childhood teachers' classroom experience is filled with vibrant and colorful spaces that reflect the learning that takes place in each class. In Kindergarten and 1st grade, physical education teachers will help students develop foundational motor skills and a lifelong love for health and physical activity. Elementary School teachers will work in a learning environment carefully crafted to instill a love of learning for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders. Our unique classroom setting in the heart of Washington Heights provides a perfect physical education classroom environment for young learners. In addition, our campus includes a full size track and field and significant outdoor space, providing a great setting for physical activity for young explorers.
