Indiana Math and Science Academy North is seeking highly motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic Physical Education teachers to join a team of outstanding educators. These positions involve collaboration with the other teachers within the assigned grade level and a commitment to student achievement. The right candidate for this position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and develops an understanding of the relationship between healthy body function and exercise. The environment must also motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment will aid in discovering and developing students' talents in physical achievement, including that which develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual and team sports. Essential Duties include teaching knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing curriculum. The P.E. teacher will instruct students in citizenship and work cooperatively with other P.E. teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program. It is essential to analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of body movement.

  • Plan and present daily lessons using approved curriculum resources based on data from formative and summative assessments.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth, prepare grade reports, and keep appropriate records that include attendance, work completion, and scores.
  • Administer standardized tests.
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Encourage students to think critically, be independent learners, and express original ideas.
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that is conducive to maximum learning.
  • Communicate with parents and school academic and counseling teams on student progress.
  • Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day.
  • Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  • Contribute to the school's positive culture and foster a growth mindset in myself and others.
  • Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Regularly infuse habits of good citizenship and social-emotional learning within the classroom.
  • May include Health Education classes.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in elementary education or a related field from an accredited physical education or elementary education program is required.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana Teaching License or be eligible to obtain teaching licensure in a timely manner.
  • Strong instructional pedagogy and classroom management.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Creative practices to engage all learners.
  • Ability to relate to students and help them grow academically.
  • Patience, understanding, and adaptability.
  • Bilingual skills are beneficial.
