About The Position

About this opportunity: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Physical Design CAD Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining ASIC Physical Design methodology for Ericsson's next-generation products. This role requires a broad understanding of custom ASIC development within a physical design organization. The Ericsson Radio and Baseband Products have our ASICs as their backbone and our challenge is to design and deliver those so that our 5G leadership position in the market accelerates.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Physical Design with focus on synthesis, floorplanning, placement, clocking and route methodology
  • Expertise in industry standard physical design tools such as Fusion Compiler or Innovus
  • Experience with techniques targeting leakage and dynamic power
  • Proficiency in tcl and python scripting
  • Leadership skills and ability to work with diverse teams across the globe
  • Excellent communication, presentation and listening skills, with ability to communicate complex technical subjects.
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering

Responsibilities

  • Develop Ericsson's physical design methodology
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to architect solutions targeting power, performance and area (PPA)
  • Participate in defining flows, methods, select tools, drive continual improvement, and closure of issues
  • Work with advanced process node technology
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors on developing and deploying next generation methodologies
  • Partner with EDA vendors to triage and resolve tool issues
  • Write custom python/tcl scripts for utilities and reporting
  • Mentor junior engineers

Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson's Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
