About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Physical Collateral Examination Associate within Wells Fargo Commercial Banking Team. This role involves scheduling and routing daily travel to customer locations within an assigned geographic area, often incorporating overnight stays to optimize productivity. The associate will physically inspect inventory, assess its condition to confirm the collateralized position, and reconcile discrepancies with customers, documenting details to support inspection results. The role also includes building customer relationships by setting inspection expectations, answering questions, providing support with payment systems, and raising customer growth inquiries to commercial and portfolio teams. Communication with managers, account managers, and peers is essential for issue resolution and risk escalation. The position covers jobs performing physical inspections of commercial business inventories to assess their condition and provide prompt, accurate reporting to confirm their collateralized position. It may also involve responding to customer inquiries, questions, documentation issues, billing errors, disputes, and program changes.

Requirements

  • 6+ months of Collateral Examination experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Must be willing to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
  • Ability to push/pull 50 pounds and lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to travel daily with 4 or more hours of driving per day
  • Reliable transportation for daily business travel
  • Must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance A

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months of auditing experience
  • 6+ months of customer service experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or related field
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and route daily travel to customer locations within an assigned geographic area, incorporating overnight stays to reduce travel time for optimum productivity
  • Physically inspect inventory and assess the condition to confirm the collateralized position
  • Reconcile discrepancies with the customer and document details to support final inventory inspection results
  • Build relationships with customers through setting inspection expectations, answering questions, providing support with payment systems and raising customer growth inquiries to our commercial and portfolio teams
  • Communicate with manager, account manager and peers to resolve issues and escalate risks
  • Participate in audits of floor plan inventory at various dealerships and companies
  • Perform physical inspections of dealer inventories and reconcile with business records through effective communications with account managers
  • Review approval requests and ensure completion of all operating and action measures within established timeframes
  • Inspect physical existence of collateral and verify the borrowers' records to determine adherence to approve loan structure
  • Receive direction from supervisor to ensure accurate responses on customer inquires and disputes
  • Exercise judgment in determining the cause of discrepancies and disposing of any variances
  • Assess condition of collateral with prompt and accurate reporting to confirm the collateralized position
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Performs physical inspections of commercial business inventories to assess their condition to provide prompt and accurate reporting
