About The Position

The Physical Automation Development Sr. Manager guides both Operational Technology Managers and an interdisciplinary team of professionals tasked with researching and assessing new technologies and methodologies for potential business opportunities. He/She performs preliminary network modeling and data analysis to evaluate new technology opportunity sizing of existing operational capabilities. This position requires a high level of understanding of current work methods to translate internal business needs into external technical functional requirements. This position assists in defining the direction for projects and solution architecture and coordinates across internal business units and develops relationships with external industry leaders. The Sr. Manager focuses on larger projects that may contain multiple smaller projects and technologies within them to provide a successful overall solution. The Sr. Manager will take the concept from ideation by working with all necessary business units to integrate the technology into UPS successfully and make it a standard technology. This requires management of multiple Physical Automation Development Managers, system vendors, integration into the current operation, and develop alignment with internal stakeholders on the success of emerging technology. In addition, the Sr Manager is responsible for interdepartmental tracking to maintain cost plans, project schedules, and reporting responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in Project Development Projects
  • Experience in defining new technology roadmaps and ability to drive an independent project from a product owner standpoint
  • Experience with integrating software solutions, project management, & strategy development.
  • Understanding of Information Security practices, operational methods, and physical automation technology.
  • Experience in DevOps and Agile
  • Domain Expert with Software Development Literacy
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% as needed for the role.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

Responsibilities

  • Influences the development and implementation of Physical Automation strategy, initiatives, and governing policies.
  • Assembles detailed reviews of the enterprise and documents capabilities and conceives approaches to aligning technical solutions with business needs.
  • Assists in defining the direction for projects and solution architecture.
  • Supports leadership by planning and championing the execution of broad initiatives aimed at delivering value to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leverages data, technical, and business knowledge to drive the development of capability frameworks at portfolio and enterprise levels.
  • Supports project life cycle with emphasis on the initiation, feasibility, installation, and analysis phases.
