About The Position

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and organizes physical activity and health promotion programs for individual, groups, and community needs.

Requirements

• PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SPECIALIST I EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT One-year certification from college or technical school in Physical Education, Health Education or related field; or 1-1/2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience required.
• PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SPECIALIST II EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from 4-year College or university in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field; or 6 years or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience required.
• PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SPECIALIST III EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from 4-year College or university in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field; no substitutions.
• EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least three (3) years of experience in a related field.
• PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SPECIALIST IV EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Master's degree from 4-year College or university in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field; no substitutions.
• EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least five (5) years of experience in a related field.
• An individual should have knowledge of Database software, Design software, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. The person that fills this position will be traveling within the community to teach and facilitate physical fitness activities.
• Must be certified in CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
• Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer a certified Physical Fitness Specialist or Nationally-Recognized Training Certification.
