Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: fiber optics, fiber lasers, high-power bulk lasers, optical communications, free-space optical communications, nonlinear optics, ultrafast lasers, spectroscopy, and integrated photonics.
  • Familiarity with optical system testing equipment, including laser sources, OSA, power meter, PER meter.
  • Ability to develop automation software for instrument control and data collection/data analysis using LabVIEW/Python/MATLAB
  • Well-developed organization skills, including the ability to handle many details and multiple programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated, team-oriented individual with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel: Up to 20-30% domestic travel
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient use of lab automation software (Python preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive test procedures at the systems and subsystems levels and prepare detailed test reports.
  • Specify and coordinate the development of software tools for instrument control, data collection and data analysis.
  • Apply engineering principles to design, modify, or develop test stands, equipment, and test processes for specific programs.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate off-site testing as needed at specialized test facilities, including radiation, shock and vibration, EMI/EMC.
