About the Role Analog Devices is seeking a highly motivated Photonics Design Intern to join our advanced photonics team in Wilmington, MA. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in photonic systems for next-generation data center and communication technologies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree and strong relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Solid understanding of photonic device physics, optical communication systems, and integrated photonics.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Lumerical , COMSOL, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment for optical testing (e.g., optical spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, probe stations).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to silicon photonics and data center architectures.
  • Knowledge of packaging techniques for photonic/electronic integration.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other scripting languages for data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, simulation, and characterization of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and related optoelectronic components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on co-packaged and near-packaged optical solutions.
  • Assist in developing and validating control and datapath electronics for silicon photonics platforms.
  • Contribute to packaging and integration strategies for high-performance photonic systems.
  • Document findings and present results to internal stakeholders.
