As a Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in inventing, developing, and validating cutting-edge integrated photonic technologies. Successful innovations may even be commercialized through Keysight's businesses, offering the opportunity to see your work in action. This role requires a strong foundation in both the theoretical principles and practical applications of PICs. We're looking for someone who is passionate about innovation, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to drive impactful change in the photonics field.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (e.g., Photonics, Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering).
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-Ph.D. experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform innovative research in integrated photonics.
  • Experience in PIC simulation, modeling, design, and layout.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with script-based PIC layout.
  • Hands-on experience with both optical and electrical test and measurement instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with PIC foundry tape-out processes.
  • Familiarity with high-precision optical interferometers or optical-based distance measurement.
  • Free-space optic design experience.
  • Photonic packaging experience.
  • Lab automation with Python - instrument control and data acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, develop, and implement innovative yet practical solutions to technically challenging problems.
  • Perform theoretical analysis, system or device simulations, and PIC layout with an eye for packaging and commercialization.
  • Identify new PIC technologies early and how they can best be harnessed for Keysight.
  • Invent new measurement concepts or implementations to significantly impact Keysight's businesses.
  • Implement these innovative concepts in actual hardware and software to prove feasibility.
  • Work with Keysight's businesses to transfer the technology into commercial products.
