About The Position

The Student Photographer will capture high-quality photos that support the newsroom’s storytelling across print, digital, and social platforms. This role is ideal for a student with an eye for detail, creativity, and a passion for visual journalism.

Requirements

• Current student with a flexible schedule to cover assignments, including some evenings/weekends.
• Familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and photo editing tools.
• Strong eye for composition, lighting, and storytelling.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• PORTFOLIO REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION.

Nice To Haves

• Prior photography experience (classwork or freelance) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Photograph campus events, news stories, student life, and portraits as assigned.
• Edit and prepare photos for publication using basic photo editing software.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, and other staff to develop visual content.
• Maintain an organized archive of photos for newsroom use.
• Uphold ethical journalism and photojournalism standards.
