About The Position

The High Point University Office of Communications is a team of creative professionals who are passionate about sharing the High Point University experience with the world. We serve as the primary point of contact for all High Point University communications efforts, both internal and external. The Office of Communications is committed to sharing the stories that exemplify “the promise”: At High Point University, every student receives an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people. The student photographer will help share the visual story of HPU students, faculty, and staff by photographing important university events, both on and off-campus. These photos will be used on a variety of platforms including the HPU website. The photographer will upload images to the asset management system, and may organize photos within that system.

Requirements

Must own and have experience in operating a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
Must have excellent communication skills so you can direct individuals (students, staff, faculty, etc.).
Must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA

Understanding of basic photography skills: ISO, shutter speeds, F-Stops, composition
Ability to adapt to changing situations
Excellent communication skills
Organized, reliable, and independent

Responsibilities

Serve as a professional representative of the Office of Communications at a variety of events
Serve as a primary or secondary photographer at events on and off-campus
Capture energetic images that show the passion and enthusiasm of students, faculty, and staff
Document action-packed, fast-paced events
Ability to work nights and weekends
Ability to coordinate large scale group photos
Ability to archive and organize files
Other duties as assigned
