About the position
The Lincoln Journal Star is seeking an experienced photojournalist with strong video and photo skills and a passion to tell stories through visual journalism. The ideal candidate will have daily photojournalism experience producing still photographs and video for a news organization. They will be creative, accurate and reliable. The ability to multitask, work under deadlines and effectively communicate are musts. Knowledge of social media tools and digital news content is required. Our photographers cover a range of assignments - breaking news, long-term projects and features, as well as high school and collegiate sports.
Responsibilities
- Produce still photographs and video for news stories.
- Cover breaking news, long-term projects, and features.
- Engage with social media and digital platforms.
- Manage complex breaking news situations under pressure.
- Utilize professional knowledge of photo and video editing software.
Requirements
- Exceptional core photojournalism skills (photography and videography, reporting, caption writing, and journalistic ethics).
- Ability to multitask and work under deadlines.
- Professional knowledge of Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, Premiere, and other editing software.
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends.
Nice-to-haves
- FAA Part 107 drone certification.
- Ability to produce podcasts and do studio work.
