About The Position

HCA HealthONE Aurora is seeking a Phlebotomy Laboratory Assistant PRN to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring high-quality, efficient care in the lab department. The position involves performing technical procedures, maintaining knowledge of protocols, and providing excellent patient interactions. The Lab Assistant will collect and process specimens from patients of all ages, assist with clerical duties, and serve as a customer service representative for the lab.

Requirements

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • High school diploma or better.
  • 1-2 years of healthcare experience as a phlebotomist preferred, and/or completion of formal phlebotomy class preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Above-average manual dexterity.
  • Ability to type proficiently (at least 30 words per minute) on the computer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all technical procedures including venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients of all ages.
  • Collect and process specimens on patients as required.
  • Perform test requests and chart results for patients with various clinical conditions.
  • Assist in the department's clerical duties.
  • Serve as a customer service representative for the lab on the phone and in person.
  • Perform function verification of equipment.
  • Communicate with other hospitals, departments, physicians, medical offices, and patients.
