About The Position

Rocky Mountain Laboratories is seeking a Part-Time Mobile Phlebotomist to support field-based phlebotomy operations in Davis and Weber County, Utah. This posting is intended to support anticipated staffing needs related to potential growth in account volume and is considered a low-priority opening at this time. This role is part-time with the potential to transition to full-time based on business needs and performance. Phlebotomists in this role typically begin and end their workday from home while traveling to patient homes and healthcare facilities. Occasional travel to our Draper, Utah headquarters or surrounding service areas may be required for training, meetings, or operational support. Schedule: This is a part-time (0–29 hours per week), W2 hourly position. Work schedules are not fixed at this time and will be determined based on business needs. Anticipated coverage may include combinations of the following: Potential day groupings may include: Monday – Wednesday Wednesday – Friday Friday – Sunday Potential shift times may include: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Availability does not guarantee assignment, and schedules may change based on operational needs. W2 hourly Team Members receive an 8% shift differential for hours worked between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., as well as for all hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements

  • At least one year of phlebotomy experience, including venipuncture and specimen handling
  • Current phlebotomy certification or license
  • Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
  • Willingness and ability to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel
  • Ability to work independently in patient homes and healthcare facilities
  • Comfort driving in local weather conditions, including snow and icy roads
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage changing schedules and meet collection deadlines
  • Comfort using smartphones, tablets, and electronic systems
  • Ability to meet physical and travel requirements associated with mobile phlebotomy work
  • Willingness to comply with background checks, drug screening, and regulatory requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy training or certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Mobile or field-based phlebotomy experience
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric collections
  • Specimen processing experience
  • Experience working independently in a route-based or field role
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, CLIA, or regulated healthcare environments
  • Prior courier, delivery, or route-based experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection in patient homes and healthcare facilities
  • Drive a personal vehicle for mobile and field-based specimen collection and transport
  • Accurately label, document, and process specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and timely transport of biological specimens
  • Enter patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Manage assigned routes, schedules, and time-sensitive collections independently
  • Respond to STAT and priority collections as needed
  • Utilize company-issued mobile devices for documentation and communication
  • Follow infection control, safety, and compliance procedures
  • Provide professional, compassionate, and patient-centered care
  • Collaborate with laboratory and operations teams to support workflow needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
