A Day in the Life of a Phlebotomist Phlebotomists perform blood draws, specimen collection, legal blood alcohol and urine drug screen collections for hospital and non-hospital patients of all ages. This role ensures the accurate identification, collection, and transportation of samples while maintaining patient privacy, comfort and safety. The phlebotomist follows strict infection control protocols, maintains accurate collection information, and communicates effectively with patients and a multitude of other healthcare staff. This position responds quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to phlebotomy/specimen collection.
