About The Position

Phlebotomist needed for busy multidisciplinary medical office. Verify patient by reading patient identification. Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture and fingerstick, urine specimens via patient clean catch, and sputum via oral swab. Maintains specimen integrity by using an aseptic technique, following department procedures, and observing isolation procedures. Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting collection times; maintains daily tallies of collections performed. Maintains quality results by following department policies and procedures. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. Resolves unusual test orders by contacting the physician, pathologist, clinical staff, or reference laboratory; referring unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification; notifying supervisor of unresolved orders. Must be able to travel between locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Documented phlebotomy training/education
• Certification by a nationally recognized body
